DSP Zafar Javed and his son arrested in a dacoity at a pan shop in Karachi


Karachi Dacoity : Police have arrested three people including DSP Zafar Javed and his son on charges of robbery at a paan shop in Karachi. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arif Aslam has confirmed this. SSP told the media that robbery took place at a paan shop in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area late on Wednesday night. Three people including a senior police officer and his son have been arrested in this case.

After the incident, a case was registered at Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on the complaint of shop owner Shahzeb. During the investigation, the police van used in the incident has also been seized. CCTV footage of the incident also went viral, in which at least three people are seen. 2 of them had covered their faces with masks and got down from the police van and attacked the paan shop. They threatened the shopkeeper and later forcibly entered and snatched the goods and cash.

SSP confirmed- the police van belonged to DSP
SSP Aslam confirmed that the police van used in the robbery belonged to DSP Zafar. He said all the suspects seen in the footage are being identified. According to the police, initial investigation has found the DSP’s son and his friends involved in the crime. Efforts are on to arrest other accomplices, the police said.

Incidents of robbery are increasing continuously
The crime rate is constantly increasing in the port city. At least 71 people have been shot dead by robbers in the first 5 months of 2024. A report came out regarding Karachi’s crime in April. It was told that 6,780 street crimes took place in Karachi in a month, in which 20 vehicles were snatched and more than 130 were stolen. The report also said that 830 motorcycles were snatched and 4,200 others were stolen during Ramadan. Incidents of mobile snatching are also increasing continuously. The number of mobile looted phones here was 1,600.
